Green Printing - Growth In The Future

“Going green” has become a popular phrase embedded within the vernacular of the print and packaging community. A “green” presence in the past, consisting of recycled paper and soy-based inks, tended to keep people happy. However, the times have changed. Recent legislation in southern California will establish a benchmark which will change the way the print industry will do business. Instead of reacting to the change, learn to become proactive and discover ways to turn the challenges into opportunities by being among the first to gain an in-depth knowledge and truly watch your green grow and go.

Day 1: The Many Worlds of Green Printing
Are you confused about all of the hype surrounding sustainability and green printing? This program provides you with a comprehensive overview on all of the components surrounding the green movement and what you have to gain by becoming involved and initiating your own green plan.

You will learn:
• What is the Green Movement?
• Who are the major stakeholders?
• A view from the boardroom – Corporate Social Responsibility?
• The printers’ perspective – cost vs. benefit: How do I get my green to grow?

Day 2: Environmental Compliance
Understanding environmental compliance regulations and statutes can be confusing and intimidating. This program will strip down the rhetoric to give you a nuts-and-bolts understanding on regulations and requirements regarding current and pending legislation and how you can begin to develop a plan for meeting compliancy and how to use it to achieve a competitive advantage in the market place.

You will learn:
• Federal & State Regulatory Agencies
• Environmental terminology
• Today’s Green Printer
• Beyond compliance
• What will print buyers be looking for in green printers?

Day 3: Paper, Paper and Paper
There have been substantive changes recently in the paper industry regarding sustainability practices. These practices involve paper manufacturing and forest management. As a result, two very prominent certification programs have evolved that will govern the way business with printers and packaging companies will do business in the future. This program will prepare attendees with a comprehensive overview of the “A-Zs” surrounding the greening of print from a paper perspective.

You will learn:
• The “Greening” of the paper industry
• FSC & SFI and the corporate world
• CoC Certification and the printer
• Other substrates and certifications
• The Future of the “Green” Printing Industry
