Conference Program Overview

This one-day event will be packed with industry leaders telling how they are successfully addressing current sustainability issues through groups discussions and special topic breakouts.

Based on feedback from last year’s conference and on industry interest over the past year, the 2009 conference topics will include:

• Keynote Address: "The sustainability shakeout and what it will mean to you."
• Carbon Footprinting and the Life Cycle Analysis of Print and Digital Media
• Sustainability Dashboards, Environmental Management Systems, and Lean Green Media
• Green Certifications, Green Power, Chain of Custody and EcoLabels
• Sustainability Reporting and Sustainable Business Practices
• Marketing of Sustainable Print Solutions
• Conference Wrap Up and the Carli “Horizon Report."

The presentations will cover issues of energy conservation and how to determine how well your company is doing. If you are falling short of industry standards and goals, the conference will address how to improve your sustainability practices.

The conference’s presenters also know that sustainable practices must be profitable practices. You will learn about how to achieve profitability while reducing energy consumption and waste. There is increasing pressure on the part of government regulatory agencies—local, statewide, and nationally for all companies to exercise sustainable practices, and companies are being held accountable.

This conference will also address government regulations and expectations, and provide advice on compliance. Of great importance are customer expectations. Today clients of the graphic arts industry, ranging from vendors to ultimate consumers, want to only deal with companies addressing sustainability in the areas of recycling, carbon footprints, global warming, and related concerns. The conference will cover the expectations of customer and how to meet them.

Finally, the conference will address various ways to achieve sustainability certification and what such certification means in the way of marketing advantages.

Pre-Conference Workshop:
• FSC Certification (separate registration)
